Matthew 5:13

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lose his savour wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth food for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; ant it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father in heaven.

Words, hold many meanings, definitions, and interpretations for the people that read them. Authors spend many hours, and days to perfect even the smallest word. So the greatest author of all God, must have put more meaning behind his Holy book then we can ever imagine. So I want to share my interpretation and the things taught to me as a child to perhaps help others, or gain revelations I have yet to learn myself. Lets begin, when Jesus talked about the salt he was using the salt as a metaphor for Christians, or men of the faith. If we were only Christian in name and not practice then what good are we? We have lost what made us Christian, and it is like salt without it’s flavor. What good is salt if it is flavorless, and what good is a Christian if they have no character? When he talks about light he speaks about us, and our confirmation. He ask why we are trying to hide what we are, and what we represent. When we light a light we don’t cover it up, we use it to light the whole house. Then why do you try to hide the fact that you follow Jesus, from the world? Why do you hide it in shame? Instead show it, so that people may realize and glorify God who guided you to be a light for this world. This scripture basically discusses the uselessness of being a christian if you are only it in name, or if you hide it from the world. How will you help a man understand the faith if you hide the fact that your a person of the faith yourself? Or what is the point of being a Christian when you do not believe or follow the faith are you not just like a normal person?
